Dalmia Bharat Enables First Mahila Co-operative in Yadwad Panchayat
Dalmia Bharat Group Foundation (DBGF) recently facilitated the first Mahila Cooperative – ‘Pragati Mahila Rural Development’ (PMRD) in Yadwad Panchayat. The Foundation will work closely with 61 Self Help Groups (SHGs) across 10 target villages in Yadwad and Chipalkatti benefitting 890 women.
“We at Dalmia Bharat have been consistently extending our hand for the welfare of women in every possible way. The constant need for a Mahila Co-operative Group has led to this establishment with joint efforts from Self Help Groups, Government Officials and two active NGOs - Prakruti and Spurthi. This initiative is a significant step in the direction of women empowerment and gives us a huge advantage to use this as a forum for sustainable development of the community in Yadwad,” said Vishal Bhardwaj, Associate Executive Director, CSR, Dalmia Bharat Group.
The PMRD Cooperative Society has already raised a capital of ₹1.91 lakh with 191 women shareholders holding each share priced at ₹100. DBGF will help PMRD via technical support and providing office furniture and computers for the new office set-up. The Foundation will also help in networking, advocacy, liaising with government offices and local leaders, and in converging existing SHGs as members of the PMRD.
