Dalmia Bharat Foundation Empowers Rural Women with Financial Support for Sustainable Livelihoods in Belgaum
Belgaum, November 7, 2024: As part of its ongoing commitment to empowering rural communities, Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the CSR arm of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL), has provided financial support of Rs. 4 lakhs to the Unnati Gram Abhivrudhi Sangh, a federation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Yadwad, Belgaum. This funding supports 10 SHGs with 116 members, enabling them to establish new business ventures, expand existing enterprises, acquire livestock, and strengthen farming activities to create sustainable income opportunities.
The funds, organized as a revolving loan fund with a nominal interest rate of 1% per month, are designed to help members access essential financial resources for various income-generating activities. This initiative also reinforces the SHG’s institutional framework, building stronger systems to support rural women’s economic growth and independence.
Addressing the gathering,Shri Prabhat Kumar Singh, Unit Head of DCBL Belgaum, shared, , "Our vision at Dalmia Bharat is to create meaningful, lasting change in ‘rural communities we serve in regions of our operations. By giving these women access to financial support, we aim to build a path toward financial stability and independence. This initiative is an important step in strengthening households and supporting sustainable growth across the region."
The event included key dignitaries such as Mrs. Vandana Singh, President of Sphoorti Ladies Club Belgaum; Shri Basavaraj Bhutali, President of Gram Panchayat Yadwad; Shri Awadesh Kumar, Head of HR, DCBL Belgaum; alongside members of the Sphoorti Ladies Club Belgaum, who demonstrated strong community support.
By encouraging economic participation and self-reliance among rural women, DBF seeks to advance social progress and build a foundation for shared prosperity across the regions of its operation.
