Helps villagers avail loans to milch cows and buffaloes for milk production in the region
Kadapa, March 21, 2017: As a part of its livelihood initiative in association with NABARD, Dalmia Bharat Foundation laid the keystone for setting up of Dalmia Nawabpet Women Milk Producer Company (DNWMPC) and accentuating milk production in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, through provision of subsidized loans to villagers through Banks.
Through this initiative DBF has helped the shareholders of this company secure loans worth Rs. 210 lakhs for purchase of 250 milch animals with a total subsidy of Rs. 82.90 lakhs provided by NABARD. A large number of these loans have been sanctioned by the Animal Husbandry Department and DRDA .
Mr. Vishal Bhardwaj Group Head –CSR & Chief Operating Officer, Dalmia Bharat Foundation said “According to FAO, the per capita consumption of dairy products is projected to increase by 0.8% and 1.7% per year in developing countries. In India, the sheer size of the dairy industry makes it a suitable livelihood vocation for farmers and their extended families. DBF is committed to the cause of community building and furthering loan sanctions for the Producers company can mean big development payoffs for people’s livelihoods, environment and for public health.”
The efforts by both DBF and NABARD are expected to raise the daily milk production of DNWMPC by around 4000 liters a day through added cattle heads. This is likely to increaser the turnover of the company by over Rs. 3.6 Cr making it amongst the largest milk producers’ company in Andhra Pradesh.
