Rajgangpur, February 28, 2025: Reaffirming its commitment to community welfare and accessible healthcare, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. (DCBL), one of India’s leading cement manufacturers, in association with LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), marked the 10th anniversary of the Dalmia OCL Eye Centre in Ranibandha, Rajgangpur. Established with the objective of providing free and sustainable eye care services, the centre aims to eliminate avoidable blindness in Sundargarh district and surrounding areas. The milestone event, held at the centre, was attended by Dr. Taraprasad Das, Distinguished Ophthalmologist & Vice-Chair Emeritus, LVPEI, Dr. Niladri Bhusan Parhi, Deputy Executive Director & Head HR Dalmia Cement, Dr. Suryasnata Rath, Network Director- Operations, Network in-charge of Home Care service & consultant Oculoplasty, MTC, Dr. Debasmita Majhi, Consultant Pediatric, MTC & Clinical Head MTC associated SCs, Dr. Sagarika Das, Consultant Comprehensive, MTC & Champion of DOCLEC and Mrs. Saroj Shrivastav.

Over the past ten years, the centre has examined over 193,805 patients, conducted 15,790 eye surgeries, and ensured that 69% of these surgeries were provided free of cost. Notably, 48% of the beneficiaries were women, reflecting the centre’s dedication to inclusive healthcare. The centre’s community screening program has reached over 1,500 villages, including children from residential schools.

Commenting on the milestone, Mr Chetan Shrivastav, Executive Director of DCBL and Unit Head of Rajgangpur, said, "Good vision is fundamental to an individual’s quality of life, education, and livelihood. A decade ago, we recognized the urgent need for quality eye care in Sundargarh and surrounding areas, where many lacked access to essential vision services. Today, seeing the impact with close to 2 lakh patients examined, thousands of surgeries performed, and lives transformed—is truly heartening. The Dalmia OCL Eye Centre is equipped with advanced medical technology and a well-trained team to provide comprehensive eye care services. In addition to medical treatments, the centre also offers vision rehabilitation programs, including assessments, prescription of assistive devices, and social, educational, and vocational rehabilitation for individuals with low vision or blindness. These services empower patients to achieve their highest level of functional ability, enabling them to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
