National Skill Development Corporation and Dalmia Bharat Foundation Collaborate for Skill Development in Belagavi Karnataka
Belagavi, March 9, 2017: Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF)(www.dalmiabharatfoundation.org),Dalmia Bharat’s Corporate Social Responsibility arm signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Skill Development Corporation to impart vocational training and skills to youth in Belagavi, Karnataka
Envisaged as a ten year effort, the MoU will facilitate skill development training to skill and train youth in areas relevant to Apparel, Retail, Healthcare, Beauty &Wellness, Dairy and Security. The duration of these training programmes will vary from three to six months. Upon successful completion, trainees will receive a certificate from NSDC and DBF.As part of the MoU, 60000 youth shall be trained in eight Skill Development Centres by Dalmia Bharat Foundation. In Belagavi alone, more than 7000 youth will be trained in the above are trades.
Appreciating the joint initiative, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Belagavi, Dr. Suresh Itnal, KAS, (conferred I.A.S) said that Collaboration is the mainstay of any significant developmental initiative and strategic partnership towards achievement of state and national goals like those of skilling India. He further noted through such initiatives of Dalmia Bharat Foundation, youth shall be able to add to their personal as well as to the state’s economic growth.
Mr. Anil Bajaj, Executive Director, Dalmia Bharat Cement Limited, said that in the Belgaum such skill development centres shall provide the opportunity to local boys and girls to receive training and secure employment in the workforce.
Applauding the partnership, Mr. Vishal Bhardwaj, Group Head –CSR & Chief Operating Officer, Dalmia Bharat Foundation said that Livelihood Skill Training is one of our key focus areas. This is the third Skill Skill Development Centre after Trichy, Tamil Nadu and Rourkela, Odisha. Our partnership with NSDC enables us to impart vocational training and skill building programs which have a direct bearing on employment. This joint programme will help in bridging the employability gap and creating a specialized, skilled workforce.
Under the umbrella of this programme, 75% of the candidates will be assured employment in sectors and job roles in which they get trained. This partnership shall play an important catalytic role in the Government’s efforts to promote a skilled, trained workforce.
